Learn and practise advanced techniques that are taught by a registered sports Osteopath with over 15 years’ experience in treating elite athletes.
John Gibbons will safely teach you how to use Grade 5 manipulations (commonly known as an HVT – High Velocity Thrust). During this course you will also learn specific osteopathic mobilisation techniques and muscle energy techniques for the pelvis, sacroiliac joint, lumbar and thoracic spine.
This course is perfect for you if you work with athletes.
On completion of the course you will be able to competently and safely manipulate and mobilise the joints of the pelvis, lumbar and thoracic spine.
What You’ll Learn
- The role of the manipulative therapist
- Spinal Mechanics / fryettes law type 1 and type 11
- Contraindications and red flag pathologies
- Explanation of HVT, Grade 1-5 mobilisations
- Mobilisation, muscle energy techniques and manipulative techniques will be demonstrated to the thoracic spine
- Assessment, mobilisation, muscle energy techniques and manipulative techniques will be demonstrated to the lumbar spine
- Assessment, mobilisation, muscle energy techniques and manipulative techniques will be demonstrated to the pelvis and sacroiliac joint
- Spinal Manipulative and mobilisation techniques to the level of C7 -T1 and first rib. This technique you will learn as part of this course
